an august dream

Here is a poem I wrote to sum up how August has been and what’s to come. Enjoy!

Quickly you came

In a time of turbulence

Restrictions had eased

Hardly a mask in sight

The summer mood restored

Distant smells of sun cream

Weather as reliable as Judas

Though perhaps we had a hand

In the way temperatures soared

Autumn on the horizon

Pressure mounts, holidays end

Emails pile up, demanding attention

The world is waiting, needs us now

But we’re still far away, still holding on

to the promises made

of an august dream
