Oasis is Back!

Listen, I'm a Manc, so of course I like Oasis...
Oasis is back together and touring like their infamous 2009 split never happened. And whilst some may have been disappointed that Liam has NOT hit Noel with a tambourine (there's still time, don't worry), the shows have been well-received by fans in the UK.
We're lucky here as Oasis is giving our hometown 5 shows in Heaton Park. The capacity is 80,000 fans, which almost rivals Wembley's 90,000. And whilst this is the show capacity, thousands of fans have gathered around the area to join in, with the concert heard in the neighbouring houses nearby. Free concert, I guess?
Town (or Manchester City Centre, to my non-Manc readers) has been heaving with people all dressed in Oasis shirts and bucket hats. Adidas has had long queues of fans waiting to get their hands on the merch!
My personal favourite is this new 'Hub' in Piccadilly Gardens. We've had heatwave weather, so everyone and their mum is sitting in Piccadilly Gardens, but now there is an outdoor music garden set up to commemorate the Oasis shows in town. Anyone can sit on the wooden benches, listen to live music, and get food from the stalls nearby.
Oasis is a 90s band and these comeback shows are everything for the Millenials and Gen X-ers, but also Gen Z. Even if people aren't fans, they know of the legendary band and the source of pride they are for Manchester. Our city anthem is 'Don't Look Back in Anger', after the 2017 Arena bombing.
I didn't manage to get tickets but I am getting free concerts with how loud it is, and I'm not complaining! I think the shows really highlight the best of Manchester - people standing together to enjoy good music in good weather. All connected because of a feeling, an experience. And that amazing firework display after Champagne Supernova!
2 shows to go now - I'll really miss it when it's over!
